An original Anglo-Saxon tradition
This original Anglo-Saxon tradition is held the first Saturday of September and is celebrated by bearded from all continents and nations. It is impossible for us to tell you more about the reason for choosing this day of our calendar —since its origins are poorly known or unknown. All we know is—that 800 years BC—The Vikings of Denmark were celebrating the beard and could even celebrate it up to a hundred times in a year. The beard, for the Vikings, deserved to be glorified so often that there had no official day to celebrate it. Since then, the World Beard Day was adapted and modified in some countries and cities—It is even more specific today in some regions.
Typically, during this day, the tradition wants that men with beards take advantage of this day to relax and unwind. Thus, during the World Beard Day, people near you and other family members, who are beardless, are invited to do household chores and other work for you as a sign of support. They can even use this day to give you a beard care kit so your beard can enjoy what it deserves. During

- At Dönskborg—a small Swedish village—all men that are beardless are banished from the village during the day and are forced to spend the next 24 hours in one of the surrounding forests.
- In Spain, the World Beard Day is celebrated with a boxing match challenging a bearded man armed with a sharp pike versus a young beardless boy only armed with his fists. Needless to say who usually emerges victorious from this fight. Anyway, an impressive crowd from many townships of the country moves to assist this annual boxing match.
